Amsterdam Education Tour

Amsterdam, the city of freedom! 😉 Are you coming to Amsterdam or the Netherlands for a study abroad program, exchange student or just visiting Amsterdam with other students? Let us introduce you to the open (and liberal) Dutch culture.

The Tour

We walk through the old city center of Amsterdam, the Red Light District, and learn how this ‘old harbor’ of Amsterdam came to be the neighborhood it is today.

You’ll hear stories about the tolerant culture of Amsterdam and how this came to be. An ideal mix of history, current affairs and a lot of humor.

At the end of the tour we give a small presentation in our creative space  in Amsterdams famous narrowest alley. Here everyone can reflect, discuss and ask questions (there are no strange questions!).

Private Tour: Liberal Dutch culture

In a small part of the tour we’ll pass by (the unavoidable) window brothels, the guide will tell about the Dutch prostitution policy and answer questions. On our tours we expect people to treat sex workers with respect (so no photos or bad comments).

Yes, we have coffeeshops, but not every Dutchie smokes cannabis!

We find it important to not avoid but inform about the use of soft drugs and the Dutch soft drug policy. So we give accurate information about the Dutch soft drug policy, coffeeshops and the (possible dangers of the) use of soft drugs.

Fun day out

This is not a boring education tour, but a fun day out with locals! Humor, funny stories and facts keep people their attention and make everybody look back on the day with a smile.

Salomé Trip-Wagenhuis

This tour is organized by me, Salomé Trip-Wagenhuis. I am a social and cultural entrepeneur (BA Social Work):

“What I love about living in Amsterdam is the open culture and diverse society. Here you meet people of all colors, ‘flavors’ and walks of life.

I absolutely understand students who want to spend a year here or in other parts of the Netherlands! After guiding different student groups in Amsterdam, I decided to create a special ‘Education Tour’.

A good introduction to the Dutch culture, fun sightseeing and the more liberal sides that made Amsterdam famous, like prostitution, our soft drug policy, freedom of religion and our multicultural society.
